Mira & John Henien

I really enjoy developing a build up to the wedding ceremony by creating an exposition. I often use footage of  the bride and groom getting ready. The preparation to the ceremony provides the wedding DVD with an insightful behind the scenes introduction. Mira and John groomed and prepared themselves at the Hilton in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This is the second wedding that I have filmed at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church. I love several aspects about this style of wedding. First of all I love all of the red that is in the church. The red carpet and colorful paintings help the video footage pop. Secondly, I think the robes and crowns the bride and groom wear are so suitable for the wedding ceremony.

Filming formal photo shoots is the type of footage that I don’t see much of. It can be tricky to film because of the time it takes to set up videography equipment at a reception. Packing up after a wedding and keeping up with the wedding party can be tricky. Especially when the limo driver has a lead foot and catches every yellow light in town. The other challenging aspect is getting to the reception before the bride and groom to set up for the entrance of the bride and groom. The pay off is the footage. I think it greatly enhances the bride and groom’s wedding photos when they see footage from the formal photo shoot.
